Web Accessibility Consultant
Access Advisors is a pan-disability consultancy within the Blind Foundation that works directly with employers to help them become more accessible and inclusive of New Zealander's with disabilities, chronic health and mental health conditions.
Looking for a technology job where you can do good and do well? Access Advisors web consultants help organisations design and enhance their digital systems - including websites, web applications, software, hardware, and services - so they are usable by people with disabilities. Our work allows organisations to provide equal access through software, training, and consulting solutions.
You will be a passionate, self-starter with commitment, empathy and understanding of the experience of disabled people and a belief in the Access Advisors values and purpose.
As a Web Accessibility Consultant, you will work at all levels within development projects, in all sizes of organisations, public and private.
You will be responsible for:
Providing industry leading professional web accessibility consulting services to all sectors of New Zealand.
Working in complex technical environments to problem solve and provide solutions that meet the customer’s strategic goals.
Establishing and leading strong relationships with your customers to ensure that we are the preferred partner for their web accessibility consulting.
Supporting Access Advisors to achieve their strategic and financial targets.
What we are looking for:
5+ years’ experience in a technical web development role.
Advanced skills in establishing and managing relationships and developing opportunities in complex and variable environments.
A degree in Human Computer Interaction, Web Accessibility or other relevant subjects.
An in-depth knowledge of HTML, CSS and the concepts of web accessibility.
Up to date knowledge on the range of assistive technology available to people with a disability.
The ability to manage a diverse workload - working across complex technical teams and their management in varying environments.
The ability to be able to consult with teams of IT technical professionals, influencing them to achieve desired outcomes.
Demonstratable complex problem-solving skills.
Good presentational skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Someone is who self-motivated and proactive.
