Pacific Services Coordinator
With over 300 employees and around 6,000 volunteers the Blind Foundation is New Zealand’s leading provider of services and support to people who are blind or have low vision. One of New Zealand’s most trusted and iconic Not for Profit organisations, we need a a full-time Pacific Services Coordinator to join us at our South Auckland office to join us. You will help the organisation achieve our vision of a “life without limits” for New Zealanders who are blind or who have low vision.
This exciting and diverse role focuses on working with Pacific aiga/kaiga to provide culturally appropriate support to achieve the best possible outcomes for Pacific people who are blind or have low vision. This includes helping them to access and engage in Blind Foundation services, engage with the Pacific Island community and external organisations to increase awareness on blindness, provide information on eye health and encourage referrals to the Blind Foundation.
Experience working in the health or disability sector is essential for this role, and the successful candidate will also need to have:
a tertiary qualification in health or disability services
fluent in one or more Pacific Island languages
experience in incorporating, nurturing and upholding relevant Pacific principles and best practice
experience in networking and building strong relationships with the Pacific Island Communities and other service providers
strong planning, time management and communication skills
proficient in Microsoft office applications e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
commitment to undertake training in blindness and low vision
Some travel will be required. The ability to work outside normal office hours and occasionally stay away overnight is essential.
