Audio Post-Production Technician
With over 300 employees and around 6,000 volunteers the Blind Foundation is New Zealand’s leading provider of services and support to people who are blind or have low vision. One of New Zealand’s most trusted and iconic Not for Profit organisations, we need an Audio Post-Production Technician to join us. You will help the organisation achieve our vision of a “life without limits” for New Zealanders who are blind or who have low vision.
Would you like to be part of a team producing digital audio content for blind and low vision people in an exciting technical environment? Are you passionate about enabling access to information through audio formats? The Blind Foundation Library distributes audio books and magazines which have been produced in its own studios or acquired from external sources and are structured to the DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) standard.
In this role you will need a good understanding of audio production techniques. You will be responsible for preparing audio books from a variety of sources ready for uploading to our digital archive and adding structuring (currently DAISY 2.0) to analogue to digital conversions and any commercial audio material acquired. Synthetic speech will also be used to create accessible audio material.
We are looking for someone with:
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- Experience with audio production software.
- Experienced in the use of MS word and excel.
- Knowledge of common audio file formats.
- Experience with HTML and XML markup.
- An understanding of the structure of a print book and how it can be related to an audio book.
- Experience and competence in handling large amounts of computer data.
