Supporter Care Advisor


With over 300 employees and around 6,000 volunteers the Blind Foundation is New Zealand’s leading provider of services and support to people who are blind or have low vision. One of New Zealand’s most trusted and iconic Not for Profit organisations, we need a Supporter Care Advisor to join us. You will help the organisation achieve our vision of a “life without limits” for New Zealanders who are blind or who have low vision.

This role is the first point of contact for Blind Foundation supporters and delivers an exceptional experience through engagement of the highest quality.  This role will build relationships with our supporters and help to deliver long term income and engagement through the provision of excellent supporter care. 

This role is responsible for helping with all enquiries, ensuring supporters feel valued and a key part of our work, reassuring concerns and complaints. This will be through warm and empathetic direct communication via a variety of channels including inbound and outbound calls, post, handwritten notes, email and social media.

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • Excellent customer/supporter service skills with experience working in a customer facing environment

  • High degree of empathy with warm and friendly people skills and the ability to remain calm when under pressure and/or dealing with complaints and difficult interactions.

  • Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills, including a persuasive telephone manner, excellent listening skills and the ability to build rapport on the phone

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload

  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative, ownership and responsibility for own areas of work

  • Attention to detail with the ability to quality check own work

  • Enthusiastic, positive and a great team player

Desirable

  • Experience in a front-line supporter/customer care role in a similar supporter/customer service environment

  • Outbound Call Centre experience meeting targets

  • Empathy with blindness and low vision
