Operational Support and Development Manager
With over 300 employees and around 6,000 volunteers the Blind Foundation is New Zealand’s leading provider of services and support to people who are blind or have low vision. One of New Zealand’s most trusted and iconic Not for Profit organisations, we need an Operational Support and Development Manager to join us. You will help the organisation achieve our vision of a “life without limits” for New Zealanders who are blind or who have low vision.
This role provides operational support to the National Manager Independent Living overseeing the largest service area in the Blind Foundation, with multiple specialist disciplines providing rehabilitative services that enable independent living for clients. Service areas and disciplines include; ADL, O&M, Assessors, Counselling, Children, Deaf Blind and Pacific Island.
The role must maintain a balance between efficient operational delivery of quality services, with a change focus; introducing process and practice changes that will ensure the organization is equipped to meet changing client demands. The ability to ensure high standards of service are maintained will be critical, both in terms of meeting client expectations and needs, but also to fulfil the requirements of Ministry of Health contracts. The role will collaborate closely with other management team members to implement needed changes in the service model that will result in greater speed of service, slicker processes that make it easy for internal staff and volunteers to do their work, and adaptation of services to meet different client needs.
As part of the Independent Living Management team, the role will have shared accountability for the overall performance and effectiveness of the business unit, through a number of shared goals and objectives with other Management team members. The successful applicant will be expected to be highly collaborative and willing to work across team boundaries to achieve the best outcomes for the organization and clients.
The ideal applicant will have the following:
8 years’ experience in operations management having managed a highly motivated team
Sound judgement to make effective decisions
Ability to establish key relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
A qualification in project management and ability to direct and lead key projects
Experience coordinating work and the business plan processes
An innovative champion of change who is always looking at continuous improvement
Ability to contribute to organizational wide programmes as needed
Highly collaborative, and aligned to the Blind Foundation values of Optimistic, Connecting, Aspirational, and Empowering
